I woke up a little earlier than usual and had about a half hour to kill so I fired up Party and sat down at three tables. I sat out until my blind on each table and the first thing I notice on one is that this one player has won every hand. They raise and re-raise pre-flop, do the same on the flop, and on every street until the person folds. Seeing as how they played 5 hands in the row the same exact way I was taking a wild guess that this person was just an a-hole instead of blessed with great cards. I, however, ended up being blessed with good cards. First hand in the BB I get AKs. Everyone folds to Mr. Raiser and he . . . raises. I re-raise and he comes over the top to cap. Flop is ace high giving me TPTK. I bet, he raises, I 3-bet and he caps. This goes on for every street and at the showdown he flips up K3o with no pair. Ha!
A few hands later I get AA, same story. All the way to the river, betting and capping and he flips up some small pair. A few hands later I get ATs, I missed the flop but just check-called it down and won.
But the luck (and the stupidity of my opponents) doesn’t end there. On another table I get KK in LP. It’s raised to me, I 3-bet it and he caps. Four players see the flop which is all low cards. He bets, I raise, he 3-bets and I cap. Wash, rinse, repeat to the river. Showdown is three players:
Me: KK
Bettor/Raiser: QQ
Guy along for the ride: 44
The pot was over 30BB!
I decided I have tested the poker gods enough this morning and I needed to get moving anyway so I logged off after 20 minutes with nearly 60BB. If only every session could be like this :-)

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
