I’ve had an account on Paradise for about a year now and with the recent announcement of the change of ownership I’ve been thinking about moving on. I like Paradise. I have a strange attraction to it. Probably because that’s where I first got started playing online.
It’s not just the change in ownership though. I’m getting tired of trying to find a game. I play either $3/$6 or $5/$10 and Paradise can usually only spread 3 or so full tables of each. Of course, I still don’t understand how they have eight 5 max tables going at the limit I want to play and can only spread 2 full tables (as I write this they have three $5/$10 full tables available and eleven 5 max). There’s absolutely no such thing as table selection if you want to multi-table. You have to play at the only available tables and chances are 1/3 of each table is also playing on your other 2 tables.
I’ve got accounts at Party and Empire (same thing) where I usually just bonus-whore $100 here or there. I could switch fulltime to one or the other. I’m also somewhat excited about the recent change to the Party/Empire software that allows PokerTracker to read hand histories right from your hard drive rather than having to request them every 100 hands. That’s a real bonus in terms of getting real time stats on opponents.
Any thoughts from the gallery? Anybody have any good excuse I should stay at Paradise?

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

Hey dont give up on paradise!
Funny you should mention your strange attraction to the first place you started playing online. I’m the same way with UltimateBet. I’ve always liked their interface more than any other site where I’ve played, including Paradise, and I like their tournament selection a lot better. I have accounts at other sites, but I always seem to end up back at UB.
On the other hand, I can’t really vouch for the quality of their cash games, since I only play the sit&go tournaments there.
