Every now and then you see a player make a move so wickedly stupid that you have to wonder what in the hell was going on in their mind. For instance, the other night at Hawaiian Gardens we had one player at our $100 NL table who didn’t quite know the hand rankings. He had KJ and the flop came KTx with two clubs. It’s heads up and he bets out and I, having AQ of clubs which gave me a straight draw, a nut flush draw and an overcard, pushed all in (he was on a very short stack). He quickly calls and we flip up our cards. Turn and river are both clubs and he lets out a sigh of relief and says that he was worried that I was going to hit my ace. As the dealer is pushing the chips towards me he starts stammering “I had a pair of kings,” and the dealer has to show him that I had a flush which beats a pair. Rebuy!
Well, in case you ever see moves like that at the poker table, rest assured that those folks may really be that stupid. May I present as exhibit A, the moron who paid $127.51 for a $125.00 WalMart Gift Card. Rumor has it that he has a few $10.50 bids in on the new $10.00 bills. I hate to be one of those people who stereotype but the joke writes itself when his eBay screen name is nascarfan82088.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
