Tilt: A Review

Is it just me or did it seem like those two guys who drew guns on each other in the backroom game should have called for a decision from a floorman?

I’ve seen Tilt being slammed on most every forum around so I’ll take the contrarian approach and say that it was about what I expected. It’s Hollywood. Did anybody really think Miami vice detectives drove around in $100,000 cars and wore $1000 suits? Of course it was going to be overly dramatic and the story was going to be insanely unrealistic. If you don’t play poker, that probably seems as real to you as Bruce Willis getting involved in a terrorist plot every damn Christmas. Yippie Ki Ay!

What can we take away from Tilt? First, that Danile Negreanu and TJ Cloutier don’t know a soft table when they see it. Second, that fish will be playing 46 all the way to the river. Third, and most importantly, it takes $9000 to wipe your butt after eating chili.

I can’t wait to meet some of the show’s fans at the tables!!

“about whit I expected” sums it up for me too - on the plus side, I thought the writers struck a nice balance with the scenes & dialog - just enough there for poker players to latch on to, without being so esoteric as to lose & confuse those who are hold ‘em/poker neophytes.

…but they did rip off the Mod Squad, imho - Julie, Linc, & Pete play poker !!!

Good comparison with Miami Vice. Sometimes cheesy-ness is fun.
