Hey, I just wanted to post a couple of feelers to get some sort of indication of interest.
Suggestion #1: An email alias (or mailing list) for LA bloggers. A couple of nights I’ve found myself thinking about heading out to the casino and realized I didn’t really want to go just by myself. If there’s an interest, I can put together some sort of alias or mailing list so anyone on the list can email all the other LA bloggers to see if they want to meet up. For instance, somebody could blast out a message to all the other LA bloggers, “Hey, I’m thinking of going down to HP to play in the $100 NL tourney tonight. Anybody interested in meeting up?” I run my own email server to setting it up would be trivial or we could do it via Yahoo groups or something like that. (Technically, we could do it for other areas, like NY, as well).
Suggestion #2: RSS Aggregator and Rankings. With the explosion in the number of poker bloggers recently, it’s becoming almost impossible to keep up with them all. Heck, I can barely keep up just listing them in my blogroll. So, I’ve been thinking about how to better process all of this data and what I came up with was something that only works well if it’s used by a large number of people. The idea is a RSS aggregator that would track what people are and are not reading. The more people who are reading a particular blog or even a particular post the higher it would rank in the system. No user level tracking would happen, but it would track what people are a group are doing so you can cut through the clutter and get to the most interesting stuff. Like I said, it works best with a large number of people using it since a sample size of one or two people would mean very little in ranking content. Now the question is, are there 20 or 30 people who would use this? I could probably crank out something pretty simple in a few weeks but I don’t want to go to the effort if there aren’t any takers.
If either of these seem of interest ping me either via email or leave a comment and we’ll see what the feedback is.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

The RSS ranking thing sounds interesting.
Agreed, the RSS popularity rank would be very useful for me.
I like both ideas.
Ditto for the aggregator, I use bloglines now and never add new ones unless they really get pimped hard.
I think it’s a great idea and I’d be all for using it.
The aggregator does sound good. I also use bloglines but something with a ranking would be nice.
count me in for both.
I’m down with both as well. Where do i drink the punch?
i’d use it. pretty dern good idea.
Excellent ideas.
