Geez, I almost forgot this but BadBlood remembered and posted:
One thing I forgot to mention about the play at Binion’s was what I believe to be the FIRST Hammer dropping by a blogger on the trip. What was especially funny is that at the 2/4 table we were at, there was a total calling station. Any paint and she was in. Just as an example, my JT on a J-high board outkicked her J3. So when she called the big blind and Bill Rini made it 4, I was a bit surprised that when the action got back to her, she folded. Bill Rini dropped the hammer at 6:55 Vegas time and took the pot down PRE-FLOP!!! He obviously had the talent, the wherewithall, the moxie, and the m@d sk1llz to do it. Perhaps a foreshadowing of things to come.
He’s right. That lady was a huge calling station and even I was suprised when she folded. I don’t think she thought it was as funny as we did.
That’s actually my second infamous hammer hand in Vegas with BadBlood. The last one was at the Excaliber during the Dec. WPBT Classic. BB and I were at a $100 NL table and I come in with the hammer from the BB. Flop comes 772. I check it and I must have had the monster tell because Bad Blood is staring at the flop while he considers bluffing at the hammer flop and then he looks up at me and mucks. Guy next to me bets, I call. Turn is a J and it’s the same action. The river is a 2 and the guy next to me pushes. I call and he shows 97 so we both split the pot.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
