The Return of PokerFilter

Well, PokerFilter never really went away but I did do a redesign and upgraded the software. Best of all, I’ll be posting regularly again.

The original idea had been to copy* the feel of MetaFilter, a popular link posting website. The only problem is that MF is a custom program written by Matthew Haughey so I couldn’t just grab something off the shelf. I was able to find some folks who tried to do a knockoff but it appeared that development had ended some time time ago and updates were infrequent at best. I hacked up this software as much as I had the time and patience to but eventually I became very frustrated with it. That combined with the fact that I was doing 99% of the posting vs. my original goal of making it a community driven link site and I had to give some thought about what PokerFilter should actually be.

The first idea was just to kill it off and just do more newsy postings along with my normal stuff here on this blog. I may still do that but I think PokerFilter has a nice sized audience of folks who like to read a human edited version of poker news/blogs and so for now I’m going to continue giving that its own place.

Anyway, go check ‘er out and ping me with any feedback.

*The intent wasn’t to rip off MetaFilter. Matt posted links to the knock-off software package and seemed to enjoy the compliment offered by their imitation.
