I’m not sure why this has stuck in my head but this weekend as I was walking to the grocery store I passed by a small playground. There were some young children playing soccer on a basketball sized court. Behind me, I hear the sound of running. Two young girls, probably age 12 – 14, run to the fence surrounding the playground and one of them shouts “Jonathan Howard is a little bitch,” and run away. As someone who’s ear is trained to the American dialect of English the British accent makes the remark even more cutting.
It’s quite obvious by the look on his face which one is Jonathan Howard. He looks completely defeated.
It was at that moment that I realized that no matter where you go in the world, no matter how big the cultural differences, you can rest assured that calling someone a bitch is the most emasculating thing you can ever do.
See, we’re not so different. It’s moments like this that make me believe in world peace.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
