I wanted to relay a recent experience I had with UltimateBet that is beginning to concern me.
I’ve had an account on UB for many years. I’ve played there from time to time but I don’t really call it a regular home. Recently I realized that left about $1000 on UB and wanted to withdraw it. I had used Moneybookers several months back to get some money off of UB so I thought I could just withdraw to Moneybookers like I had in the past.
That turns out not to be the case. I logged in, went to the cashier, and tried to withdraw. The only options available were EPassporte, Check by Mail, Check by Courier, and Bank Wire.
I emailed UB and they responded by saying that I needed to make another deposit via Moneybookers before they could enable withdrawals. That seemed strange as I had done that previously when I did my original withdrawal. Regardless, I complied and made another deposit but used my Neteller account since I had money in there already.
I tried to withdraw and was told I had to wait 48 hours since I had just made a deposit. In essence, you could have $1 million in your account and do a $50 deposit and you would be blocked from withdrawing any money for 48 hours. Nice.
I waited the 48 hours and tried to withdraw again. I still had the same options. No ability to even choose Moneybookers or Neteller. I emailed UB again and even sent them a screenshot showing that there was no Neteller or Moneybookers option available. UB responded that it was quick and easy to change my withdrawal options just by using the dropdown . . . which is the same dropdown I sent to them in the screenshot showing that those options aren’t available.
I respond that I’m done dealing with their stupidity and they need to get this resolved asap. I get a response that they’ll forward my complaint to the cashiering department.
I get a response several days later saying that they didn’t have time to read through the previous emails and asked me to summarize my problem. Nice customer service.
I did.
I get no response.
I email them back again with the same email and get a response saying that the reason I can’t withdraw to Moneybookers or Neteller is because my account is a US account and Moneybookers and Neteller won’t process the transactions. Of course that completely ignores the facts:
a) I had just made both a deposit and a withdrawal via Moneybookers 3 or 4 months ago.
b) I had just made a Neteller deposit in the last week.
c) My account is not US based and I changed my account address and country to Gibraltar over 6 months ago.
I’m having a hard time believing that the UB support staff can be this stupid. I hope I’m wrong but it seems almost as if UB is attempting to discourage withdrawals. The Moneybookers option was available to me just a few months ago. There were no problems with my account details back then. Now they’ve taken the Moneybookers option away (for unexplained reasons) and even though I’ve demonstrated that I can use Neteller to make deposits they claim that Neteller will reject withdrawals.
Something is starting to sound a little fishy.

UPDATE: After posting this UB suddenly figured everything out and immediately transferred my money out. Woot!

Things Just Keeping Getting Worse For Full Tilt Poker

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

Did you cashout to MBs or Neteller? I have the same problem, I deposited with MoneyBookers before and there is no option to withdraw or deposit from MBs. I guess I will send them an email.
