Elements Of Poker

Back in Oct 2006 when I interviewed poker coach, Tommy Angelo, he mentioned to me that he was working on a book. Well, it’s finally arrived! Elements of Poker is 248+ pages of Tommy’s writings on poker and life. Based just on the chapter titles this looks to be an amazing read.

The thing that makes Tommy unique is that he has a certain way of bringing all those things like pot odds, starting hand charts, and other basics of the game to life. He’ll make even expereinced players think differently about the game. And that is exactly what makes talking with him (or reading his writings) so helpful. He forces you to think about why certain advice is conventional wisdom by asking you to approach the problem from the other side.

I haven’t read the book yet (books don’t ship until Jan) but I anticipate it being one of the better books on the game. Hell, even Ed Miller is ordering a copy as soon as he mops up the puddle of excitement on his floor :-)

Bill,

Also note that Tommy is going to do a radio show on Holdem Radio with me, yours truly, Cactus Jack, starting on Jan 22. It will be titled, strangely enough, Elements of Poker with Tommy Angelo, hosted by Cactus Jack.

He’s going to be coaching me on the air, which surely will be the greatest challenge of his career. He’s secretly a masochist, but now the secret is out.

Happy Holidays,

CJ
