I remember way back in the day some of us poker bloggers were having a discussion about how do new bloggers get any love. The common answer is that if you’re creating good content then people will notice. I’m not sure if that was ever entirely true but it’s a lot harder today with so much competition than it was back when I first started blogging.
I’ll let you guys in on a dirty little secret; I don’t read many poker blogs. I only read about 20 or 30 max. And most of them are people I know pretty well. I also read some folks I don’t know personally like Lou Krieger and Ed Miller but for the most part my blog universe is pretty tight. I’m certainly not discovering new bloggers and the people I read aren’t linking to a lot of new bloggers.
So I started thinking (which is always dangerous) and I figured what a great way to kill two birds with one stone. I get some great content for my site, my readers get to discover new bloggers, and the author gets a little blogger love (I think that’s three birds but I was never good with math).
Here’s my proposal:
You submit an original piece of content to me
If I like it, I’ll post it here.
You can put a one paragraph bio with a link back to your website in the footer of the article which will not be no-followed (i.e. regular link that gives you Google love too). It might even be something for folks who don’t have the desire to have their own blog but might want to write an article from time to time.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
