Based on the number of emails I’ve received over the last few days it looks like word is slowly leaking out that I’m no longer with Betsson.
The first question everybody asks is “So, what happened?” Well, it’s a bit of a long story that involves a crazy Maltese taxi driver, horse tranquilizers, a 150ml bottle of baby lotion, a baseball bat, a ferry ride along the African coast gone bad, and Jessica Alba.
Ready to hear it?
I know I am. Actually, that would be a pretty cool story (especially the Jessica Alba part though I’m not so sure about the baby oil and baseball bat). Unfortunately the real story is far more boring and mundane (even by this blog’s standards).
So I wish Betsson all the best. They’re a great group of people and I really enjoyed the time there. Sometimes things just weren’t meant to be.
Now I’m off to pursue other opportunities.
Speaking of which . . . I have some meetings scheduled at the Amsterdam Affiliate Conference at the end of the month. I love that convention and there are a few good friends, former colleagues, and business contacts heading there so it’s a chance to mix a little work and fun. If you’re going to be in Amsterdam April 30th – May 3rd and you want to grab a pint, give me a yell.
After that I’ll be working on some personal projects for a bit and following up on some biz opportunities around here in Europe and out in Asia.
During that time be prepared to be bored to tears with more frequent updates here as I’m hoping between things I’ll have some spare time to write and start playing poker again.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

Good luck to you, Bill. In a way, it’s a great thing. Being free.
Ever given any thought to playing full-time?
@James: Thanks.
Yes and no. I think I could grind out a decent income if I wanted to. Sure I would have to dust off my game a bit but it’s very doable. I’m just not sure that’s what I want to be doing at the moment.
Hi mate,
Sorry it didn’t work out for you. I sort of guessed you were no longer attached to a room when I saw the FTP and Cake ads.
Hope all works out for you. I don’t think I’ll be in Amsterdam but hope that we catch up for a beer soon.
Take it easy
Chris
Chris,
That’s why I like you, man. You’re a quick read :-)
Cheers!
Bill
