As a blogger it’s often difficult to find things to write about or to relate what you want to write about into a poker theme. Fortunately for me, my writing sucks and I make no attempt to actually entertain my readers so . . . I’ve got that going for me.
But whoever writes the copy over at RakeTheRake deserves some huge kudos. I mean, this is literally one of the best copy writing jobs I’ve ever seen. And for once in my life I mean that as no disrespect for Mr. Katkin.
How good do you have to be to turn a Barclay’s profit announcement into a pitch for the Asian Poker Tour? This is how good.

Or for just the text:
Recent news reports have shown that Barclays bank have recently announced profits of around 8% in their first half, which is perhaps proof that the financial crisis is easing off.
With profits coming from the investment arm of the company, perhaps we should be asking just what are they investing in?
Maybe it’s the Asian elite poker players from Vietnam who have been preparing for the Asian Poker Tour which is due to happen on the 12 August 2009?
With only a matter of days until this competitive event starts, commentators have said that there is one group of superstars that everyone should be wary of.

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
