For my husband’s birthday about 5 years ago, I opened him a Party Poker account and funded it with $500. He was having a blast playing online and I could not resist the urge. When he would go out with his friends, leave town for work (basically any chance I got) I would log in to his account and get busy. Side note – this was back in the day before we knew sharing an account was frowned upon. He had turned his $500 into thousands, and I thought I was contributing to this exponential growth. My husband was quick to point out that I was a “losing player”, and it was time for me to cut my teeth with my own screen name.
I soon opened my own accounts and was ecstatic to have the freedom to play when I want, whatever game I want and however I want. I do not know what I would do without online poker. I play after I put my kids to bed for the night, I play while they are napping, I play while I am on the treadmill (which gets dangerous when I’m heads up in a few games while running)… The more I played the more I realized my husband was right, I am totally a losing player. He still consistently wins, and funds my account whenever I need it. Sometime I feel bad that he grinds away, only to transfer the money over to me. But hey, that’s the cyclical nature of poker. He takes it from players, I give it back and hopefully he takes it again down the road.
The scary thought is – what if I didn’t have him to fuel my friendly addiction? Would my online career be over? Lets face it, it’s not so easy to deposit money into some of these sites. Without him, there would be one less woman player at your tables. And again, one less player giving it away!

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
