It’s a question of range: Guest Post by Carl “The Dean” Sampson
Everything you do at a poker table is affected by what type of range you have. This applies to both you and your opponents. If your opponent raises and you want to 3/bet then you are [...]
A look at combatting ordinary regs by Carl “The Dean” Sampson
These days you cannot sit down on any no limit ring game online for decent stakes without encountering several regulars. Now there are regulars and there are regulars so to speak. If a regular at your [...]
Book Review: Poker Hero
Poker Hero by Florian Roßner is one of the best poker training books I’ve read in a long, long, long time. In fact, one of my only complaints about the book is that it should be [...]
Online Poker in 2013
Several years ago I wrote a couple of articles about the gap between online poker software and what players had come to expect from other, non-poker related, products. You can scan over the two posts here [...]
Greg Raymer’s Prostitution Arrest
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last couple of days, you’ve probably heard that 2004 WSOP Main Event winner, and all around good-guy, Greg Raymer was busted in a prostitution sting. The reaction in [...]
Ship It Holla Ballas!: How a Bunch of 19-Year-Old College Dropouts Used the Internet to Become Poker’s Loudest, Craziest, and Richest Crew
There was a lot of buzz going around about the Ship It Holla Ballas book going around and I had actually added it to my Amazon Wish List planning on buying it. Fortunately the publisher mailed [...]

The first 2013 New Year’s Resolution you must break: Guest Post by Jeff
New Year’s Resolutions are illogical. The use of the calendar as some sort of blackmailing device against your short comings doesn’t work. Those who make positive mindful changes set themselves up to succeed. Typical New Year fueled poker [...]

Why you need to become a better poker player: Guest Post by Carl “The Dean” Sampson
Some years ago I was of the opinion that playing multiple tables was a waste of time simply because no player could play as well whilst playing multiple tables. This opinion lacked in depth knowledge and [...]

An Outside Look at Online Poker in the USA: Guest Post by David L
It’s been so long since players from the USA actually inhabited online poker tables freely and legally it’s hard to remember what it was like. Since the UIGEA there’s been a daily barrage of blog posts [...]
Poker Meme Launch
A few months ago, I was thinking about all of the negativity and drama going on in the poker world and I wondered if all of that energy couldn’t be channeled into something less soul robbing. [...]

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.
