WPBT Vegas

by Bill Rini on March 11, 2005

in Poker, WPBT

Just made plane and hotel reservations for the WPBT in June. I’m out of here after work on the 1st and get into Sin City around 8:30pm. Staying at the beautiful Plaza Hotel and Casino where it seems I’ll be in good company. Taking off the 5th (Sunday) only because I have some meetings in Long Beach the following week. I’m considering a return trip during the WSOP events so stay tuned.

Unrelated News:

I was up in Portland this week on business and Wed. night I was hanging out with a buddy from work at the Porto Terra (the Hilton’s bar/restaurant – Hi Leslie and Justin) when I look up and on the television over the bar they have ESPN’s Tilt playing with the sound turned off. Next I look around and I see a guy sitting at one of the tables with his laptop playing Turbo Texas Hold ‘Em. Is there anywhere the poker craze hasn’t hit?

I run 2 hotels and the #1 request we get now is for internet. On my motorcycle I have my screen name for FT (was there long before I was on FT) A guest came in and said that was the 2nd time he had seen the name someplace. He told me the night before he was playing poker online against a guy with that name. Thank god I did not bust him, he is one of our better guest. :)
Also, Great Blog…….

Poker has DEFINITELY hit Portland, and in fact, had hit us even BEFORE Annie Duke moved in.

We’ve got informal tournaments going on most every day of the week, ranging from $20 with no re-buys to $30 and $40 with 1/2 re-buys.

That and a series of FREE tournaments for prizes that are doing the rounds of the bars on Tues/Wed/Thursday (portlandpokerseries.com) and it’s just hopping with games to play.

For action in Portland, check meetup.org when you’re in town.
