Very interesting session tonight. When I first get home, I can’t log into Empire. The thing’s just hanging. I do some errands that I had been meaning to get to (thanks Empire!) and try again an hour or so later. Bang! I’m on. But there’s only six 6-max games being spread and maybe 4 full games (at my preferred level, $5/$10). Huh? Ok, so they open up two new tables and I get seated at a completely fresh game. I don’t catch much on the one table but the deck smacks me in the face at the second (thanks Empire!). First hand KQo from MP. Limp, limp, I raise, cold call, call, call. Four players see the flop which comes AJT with two spades (the ace and the ten are spades and I have the queen of spades in my hand). EP bets, MP calls, I raise, button cold calls 2, EP re-raises, MP calls, I raise, and everyone calls. The turn is a spade. EP bets, MP calls, I think about raising but against three opponents I’m probably dead to another spade, button mucks. River is another spade. EP bets, MP calls, I raise, EP re-raises, MP mucks, and I call hoping I didn’t just run into the K of spades. Nope. A7 with the seven of spades (thanks Empire!).
The table just kept going like that. Another hand I limp in with 9Ts on the button and catch a TTx flop and fill up on the turn against a guy who decides I don’t have a ten and makes it a rasing war on the turn and the river. Turns out he slow played aces (thanks Empire!).
Within 1/2 hour I was up 30BB. That’s including the 7BB I was down on the other table. Then Empire freezes up and kicks me off. I try to log back in again but it just hangs so I call it a night and think about the fact that that was probably the fastest 30BB I’ve ever won in my life (thanks Empire!).

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

There’s a couple posts on 2+2 talking about Party crashing tonight. Sounds like you did a hit-n-run between crashes. Cool.
I was in a $5+1 SnG when Empire crashed last night. They refunded my buy-in this morning, plus an extra 28 cents. Thanks Empire!
