I was chatting with a friend the other day about webby kind of stuff and we got on the topic of RSS subscriptions and how they change the website experience. Anyway (yes, there is a point to this), I was toying around with ideas of how to add value for subscribers. So I hacked up an existing WordPress plugin so that I could post stuff that would only show up in the RSS feed and the emails but wouldn’t be shown on the site. I haven’t had a good reason to test it out yet so I had to make one up.
So, here’s the deal: Sometime this week I’m going to append a poker trivia quiz to one of my posts that will only show up if you get the RSS feed or the email subscription. First person who emails me the correct answer to the trivia question will get a $30 Amazon or iTunes gift card.
After we have a winner I’ll post who won (you can use an alias if you’re too embarrassed to admit you read this site) and I’ll post the question and answer on the site.
If all goes well, I’ll try to hook up with a few sponsors who can fund prizes or give away their products (software, subscriptions, etc).
If you aren’t already subscribed (it’s free!) get on the list! RSS | Email

Hi, my name is Bill Rini and this is my poker blog. I've been blogging about poker and the poker industry since around 2003-ish. Like most people I started out playing poker as entertainment in home games whenever we wanted to sit around and smoke cigars, drink beer, and eat pizza, and needed a good excuse. I started playing online shortly after the first online card rooms opened and it wasn't long before I was playing 20, 30, or even 40 hours a week or more. One day I received a phone call about a program manager position at Tiltware which was the company that consulted to Full Tilt Poker on software development and marketing. After Tiltware I spent about 2.5 years working at Party Poker where I was the poker room manager.

Hey April,
I’ll likely release it into the WordPress world if all goes well. I just want to make sure it doesn’t have any major bugs in it at the moment. I’ve only been able to test it on a test site so this will be the full monster test to see if everything works like I *think* it should :-)

Very cool idea Bill. Care to share how it’s done?

Interesting. I will have to make sure that I read my RSS feeds more frequently. Have a great weekend.
